Description

Studio portrait of seven Tasmanian Officers. Back row, left to right: Captain (Capt) Albert Edward Morgan; Lieutenant Archibald Reinmuth Nevin; J Judd. Front row: Lt William John Craze; Lt James McNamara; unidentified; 12384 Corporal (Cpl) Thomas Ernest Gould. Capt Morgan, 10th Reinforcements, 15th Battalion, of Glenorchy, Tas, aged 38 years, enlisted on 9 September 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Port Lincoln on 16 October 1915. He later served with the 47th Battalion. Lt Nevin, 11th Reinforcements, 15th Battalion, of Hadspen, Tas. Prior to his enlistment on 15 September 1915, Lt Nevin served with the Citizens Military Forces. He embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses on 27 October 1915. Lt Nevin was killed in action on 23 September 1916 at Ypres, Belgium. Lt Craze, 58th Battalion, enlisted on 6 July 1915 and returned to Australia on 18 October 1917. Lt McNamara, 11th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Launceston, Tas, aged 38 years. Prior to his enlistment on 14 August 1915 in the AIF, he served with the 92nd Infantry, Citizens Military Forces. Lt McNamara embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ascanius on 10 November 1915. He returned to Australia on 25 January 1919 with the 41st Battalion. Cpl Gould, 3rd Reinforcements, 6th Field Artillery Brigade, of Railton, Tas. Prior to his enlistment on 16 September 1915 in the AIF, he served with the Citizens Military Forces. Pte Gould embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Themistocles 28 January 1916. He was awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 24 January 1919. Cpl Gould returned to Australia on 29 May 1919. See also DA11736.
