Studio portrait of 1125 (later 3358) Private (Pte) Albert Charles Miles (left), of Maylands, WA and 4294 Pte Ernest James Chandler (right), 10th Reinforcements, 23rd Battalion, of Adelaide, SA. Pte Miles originally enlisted on 28 April 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Kanowna in Fremantle on 30 June 1915 as a member of the 7th Reinforcements, 10th Light Horse Regiment. He returned to Australia on 2 September 1915 and was transferred to Broadmeadows (Vic) for duty from 23 December 1915 through until 17 April 1916. He was discharged as medically unfit on 13 June 1916. Pte Miles re-enlisted on 26 October 1916. He embarked abaord HMAT Port Sydney in Fremantle on 22 May 1917 as a member of the 28th Reinforcements, 10th Light Horse Regiment. He returned to Australia as a member of the Australian Mounted Divisional Train on 17 January 1918. See DA13565 for another image of Pte Miles. Pte Chandler enlisted on 27 January 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Wiltshire in Melbourne on 7 March 1916. He returned to Australia as a member of the 5th Division Salvage Company on 24 August 1918.
