Description
Members of 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), and representatives of all allied forces in Vietnam pay their respects at a service for 37867 Private (Pte) Michael Alwyn Bourke, 1RAR, 37010 Pte William T. Carroll, 1RAR, and Pte Arie Van Valan 1RAR, who were accidentally killed on 1965-06-26 at Bien Hoa. The service was held in front of the Chapel at Tan Son Nhut airbase, before the bodies were flown back to Australia. Identified Officers in the centre of the photograph are: Vietnamese Officer, Lieutenant General ?, US Army, Colonel O. D. Jackson, and Lieutenant Colonel I. R. W. Brumfield, Commanding Officer 1RAR.
