Description

The Australian Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Robert G Menzies, arrives at Kure at the commencement of an official visit of inspection to Australian units serving with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF). On their way to Kure aboard HMAS Bataan, the official party wait for the destroyer to dock. The party is, from left to right : Air Marshal G Jones; Lieutenant General H C H Robertson, Commander in Chief of BCOF; Prime Minister Menzies; Mr J R Willoughby, personal assistant to the Prime Minister; Lieutenant J M Church; Mr W R Hodgson, Head of the Australian Mission in Japan; and Air Commodore A M Charlesworth, Chief of Staff of BCOF HQ.
