Description
The remains of the church at Houplines, near Armentieres, in France. The 3rd Division occupied this sector during that period. Bricks were salvaged from here to build gun emplacements and the rubble was used to put down horse lines during the winter of 1916. Identified, in the foreground are: 225 Private (Pte) J Johnson; 240 Pte J G Kiniry; 274 Lance Corporal E J Moodie.
