Description
The village of Flers, on the Somme battlefield. This village was situated about a mile behind the northern portion of the line taken up by the 1st Anzac Corps when it returned to the Somme Battlefield for the winter of 1916. Flers had been taken by the New Zealanders six weeks before. The Headquarters of certain Australian units were located in its cellars during the winter.
