Description
Lieutenant General Sir William Riddell Birdwood mounted on a horse in the grounds of the Chateau at Querrieu. When, at the end of May 1917, the 1st Anzac Corps was relieved from the line, it was withdrawn to this area and remained there for a part of its rest period, June 1917. The 4th Division (withdrawn after 11 April) had joined the 2nd Anzac Corps in Flanders.
