Description

View of a German stronghold at Hannebeek Wood in the Ypres Sector, which was captured by the Australians on 20 September 1917. Our artillery fire forced the enemy from this almost impregnable fortress and the infantry did the rest. Note the two unidentified soldiers standing in the trench.
