A fatigue party of English soldiers attached to the 3rd Division burying the men killed in the abortive attempt, on 12 October 1917, to capture Passchendaele Ridge in the Ypres Sector. These fatigue parties gave valuable assistance as stretcher bearers during the battle in which the troops of the 3rd Division suffered heavily.
