Description

A house, at Hazebrouck, wrecked by a heavy shell on 27 August 1917. The building occupied by General Sir William Riddell Birdwood and his staff as a mess, was only three doors away. Major S S Butler (?Batter) DSO, General Staff Officer Class II, Australian Corps who was wounded by the shell is seen examining the ruins.
