Description
The Lecture Room of the Australian Corps School, with Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Arthur Murray Ross CMG DSO (late Commandant) on the platform. Courses in various military subjects were held periodically and selected officers, Non-commissioned Officers and men, representative of the units of the Corps, attended. Previously an aircraft hangar, the hall, was fitted up for instructional purposes by Australian Engineers in May 1917. It was destroyed by British shellfire during the enemy occupation of Aveluy between April and August 1918. First three on the left are identified as: unidentified NCO student of the 5th Division; Lt Col Heritage, Gen-Commandant of the School; unidentified student of the 1st Division.
