An unidentified soldier peers out from a shower proof shelter typical of many improvised by Australian troops during the first few days in occupation of the Amiens district, in France, at the end of March 1918, near Mericourt in the sector defended by the 3rd Division. His kit sits on the ground beside the shelter.
