The hard won position of Tokio, near Zonnebeke, in the Ypres sector. Tokio served as an advanced Headquarters of the 6th Australian Infantry Brigade during the attack on 4 October. In the background is the ridge fronting Zonnebeke, from which the 6th Brigade opened their advance on Broodseinde Ridge. At the outset they met the Germans, who had also commenced an attack, but the enemy effort was dramatically frustrated and the advance continued. The three men cannot be identified.
