Description
A shallow shell hole and radiating marks in a field near Corbie, the traces left after the explosion of a light German field gun shell capped with an instantaneous fuse, first fitted to these projectiles about the time of the Third Battle of Ypres. Since the shell (known in military slang as a 'daisy cutter') burst before entering the ground, its fragments were not smothered and were very deadly.
