Description
An unidentified soldier near Corbie, with his feet where a shell had fallen, illustrating the effect of a light German field gun shell nicknamed by the Australian troops 'a Daisy Cutter'. The shell was fitted with an instantaneous fuse and on bursting made a very shallow hole. The spread of the fragments was usually so low that the grass was cut short within a radius of several yards and bald patches generally indicated where these shells had fallen.
