Description
View of the ruined church at Ville-sur-Ancre. It was intimately associated with the operations of the 6th Infantry Brigade in this sector on 19 May 1918, when newly taken prisoners having declared they were special troops brought up to retake the ground lost the previous week, the 6th Brigade put the matter to the test by a prepared attack, with unhappy results to the special troops who suffered heavily and lost the village and important positions beyond it.
