Description
The nature of the county in the vicinity afforded excellent cover for the hiding enemy, and during the attack on the village and the ground beyond it on 19 May 1918, a Non-Commissioned Officer of the 24th Battalion, Corporal Holloway, surprised a party of Germans at this post, killing or capturing the garrison, an exploit for which he was awarded the Military Medal. Captain J. A. Mahoney MC is inspecting the enemy post camouflaged with branches of trees.
