Group portrait of a group of officers of A Flight, No. 4 Squadron of the Australian Flying Corps (AFC), at their aerodrome near Clairmarais. Identified left to right, back row: Lieutenant (Lt) W A Armstrong RAF (probably Alfred William Armstrong RAF); Lt Alexander Thompson Heller; Lt Alexander Hamilton Lockley (later killed in action in France on 5 September 1918); Lt John Sandfield McDonald Browne RAF (later died in France on 27 June 1918).
Front row: Lt Russell Fern McRae RAF; Lt [Elwyn] Roy King DFC (later Captain); Captain Arthur Henry Cobby DSO DFC and two Bars; Lt Roy George Smallwood; Lt Cecil Roy Burton.
