Description
An abandoned Mark IV British tank, partially embedded in dirt, near Monument Wood, in front of Villers-Bretonneux. It was used by the Germans as an observation and machine gun post, while the Australians held the village. Heavy shellfire was concentrated upon this spot in the attempt to break up the tank. Scatttered to the rear right hand side of the tank lie at least three German handgrenades.
