Description
A stranded British Mark IV female tank, which was used for some time by the enemy as a strong post, in a conspicuous position, near Monument Wood, forward of Villers-Bretonneux. It had previously been captured by the 28th Battalion in a daylight raid and, when photographed, the German lines were in the foot of the tree to the left, less than 100 yards away. The tank has suffered major damage: its left hand side track is broken, while the right hand track has come completely off the front idler. The exhaust muffler is entirely riddled with shot perforations.
