Sergeant J. H. Lowe, Official Assistant Photographer, inspecting an old German trench mortar in a quarry near Etinehem. Two days before, it was taken by the 13th Australian Infantry Brigade in their attack on the Etinehem spur, which brought the Australian troops on the north of the Somme to a line immediately west of Bray.
