Description
A German Casualty Clearing Station and cemetery. When the station was seized by the Australians, on 9 August 1918, patients were found in its wards. The surrounding area was finally captured after desperate fighting by troops of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Divisions during a general attack on the morning of 11 August. Lihons itself was taken by an assault of the 2nd and 3rd Brigades, and held against two heavily pressed counter attacks. This is a digitally combined composite panorama made up of three separate images. It is only available as a digital print. The three images are also available separately at E02928A, E02928B and E02928C.
