A gruesome sight on a road near Villers-Bretonneux, showing the remains of a dead German soldier, killed in the March offensive and callously thown aside on the road to be mangled by traffic. It lay thus in enemy territory for several months, until 8 August 1918, following the Australian advance over this territory.
