Description
Escorting the wounded and prisoners along a trench, still under machine gun fire, after the successful attack of the 21st, 23rd and 24th Battalions in the afternoon of 1 September 1918. There were many deep trenches running back from Mont St Quentin to the Regimental Aid Posts within a mile from the front line and along these stretcher bearers and prisoners made their way for protection from the enemy machine gun fire which swept the countryside.
