Description
The first wave of A Company of the 21st Battalion, having just 'hopped off' from Elsa Trench, approach the brick wall south of the village of Mont St Quentin, in the renewed assault of 1.30 pm which preceded the decisive capture of the position. These troops went forward with little effort, but on the outskirts of the village heavy machine gun fire was encountered and many casualties sustained by the attacking troops. This is a stereo image. One half of the image is held at E03182.
