The 45th Battalion at the final objective of 18 September, overlooking Ascension Valley, near Le Verguier. The fourth soldier from the right is sniping a German, who can be discerned running up the hill on the right of the big burst of smoke in the centre of the photograph. Identified, third from the right is Lieutenant J. Love MM.
