Description
A view of the base of the German 15 inch Naval Gun, captured by the 3rd Battalion, in Arcy Wood, near Chuignolles, showing beyond it the blackened and broken trees, evidence of the gun having been fired. This photograph is an enlargement of a vest pocket camera snap, taken on 29 August 1918, by Mr C E W Bean, to prove that the gun had actually been used, although when captured the railway connecting it was still uncompleted.
