Description
A view from Beaurevoir Mill looking over the outskirts of Beaurevoir to Ponchaux. The Mill was a dominating feature of the ridge, stretching down to Montbrehain, which the 6th Australian Infantry Brigade advanced over on 3 October 1918. In this attack the British troops were held up at the heavily fortified and strongly defended village of Beaurevoir, and the Australians dug in under fire from Ponchaux just short of La Geneve. The following day the advance continued, and by 5 October the whole of the tremendous Hindenburg System had been smashed.
