Description
An Austin armoured car on a roadside at Bony which had been struck by a shell and completely disabled.
This example of the Austin 1918 Pattern is unusual, in that it only has one of its two turrets in place. The presence of two large spanners on the roof might indicate that the turret was in the process of being salvaged. Visible in the distance on the left side of the photograph is what appears to be another car, viewed from the front, with the driver's visor open. To the rear of the main vehicle and underneath the rear wheels may be seen Hotchkiss ammunition stripper clips and unexpended ammunition.
