Description
View of the Amiens battlefield with a tracked supply vehicle travelling along a road. The vehicle is a British Gun Carrier Mark I which were originally designed in 1916 to transport a 60 pounder field gun or a 6 inch howitzer across the battlefield after breakthrough had been achieved. Forty eight vehicles were manufactured in 1917 by Kitson and Company, Great Britain. As the allied breakthrough was not achieved in 1917, these vehicles were largely relegated to transporting supplies to infantry and artillery units. In this particular instance this Gun Carrier is taking supplies to a nearby infantry unit at Suzanne Wood.
