Description
The 15 inch naval gun, at Arcy Wood, near Chuignolles, captured by members of the 3rd Battalion in a bayonet attack on 23 August 1918, during an advance by Australian troops in this vicinity. The big gun was found separated from its carriage, with the great barrel blown off at the breech and half buried just beside the mounting. It had been wrecked by an explosion, either by accident or design. In the background is the road to Chuignolles railway.
