Loos, France. 31 January 1918. The riddled ironwork of the Crassier at Loos, and the three rifles fixed for firing "grenade signals" by wire. Overhead the structure made an excellent observation post, commanding a wide sweep of the surrounding country. The soldier is a member of the 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company, which was engaged in the area at this time.
