Description

A crater made by an enemy shell that struck and exploded another shell on the ground on Bellewaarde Ridge. In the background (right) a group of unidentified soldiers are standing near a howitzer. A partially camouflaged 8 inch howitzer can also be seen (centre, right) surrounded by piles of shells. Note three crosses in the centre.
