Description
Unidentified Australian engineers fixing charges of explosive to demolish a bridge across the Ancre River. At the time the Germans were making their advance towards Amiens, however they were held up by Australian troops and the destruction of the bridge did not take place. Note a Union Jack flag and a Red Cross flag flying from a makeshift flagpole on the bridge. Also note motor ambulances parked behind the soldiers, a church steeple in the background, and a sign, 'Ecole' (school), on the building on the right.
