Description

A view of German shells hitting the village. Unidentified soldiers, probably British, are standing around their dugouts and artillery positions at the base of an embankment near the village. Later that night German forces successfully attacked this sector and captured the village from the British troops. On 4 July 1918 the village was attacked and recaptured by the 4th, 6th and 11th Australian Infantry Brigades and American detachments attached to the brigades.
