Description

The valley of Ancre and the villages which featured in the Australian operations against German forces in March and early April 1918 during the German push towards Amiens. In the foreground (far left) is the Ancre River. A railway line, probably the Albert-Amiens railway, begins on the left side and cuts across the countryside. Several damaged buildings are visible beside the line. In the background (far left) a quarry is visible and a village, probably Heilly (left). On the far right a road is also visible. This is a digitally combined composite panorama made up of three separate images. It is only available as a digital print. The three images are also available separately at E04706A, E04706B and E04706C.
