Description

An informal portrait of members of a battery of Australian Heavy Artillery standing in front of sandbagged dugouts on the bank of the Ypres-Comines Canal. Above the dugouts several soldiers are standing around gun positions, which were at the time used in the operations in the Third Battle of Ypres. Note damaged buildings in the background (far right). This is an original Paget Plate negative. The same image is available in colour and is held at P03631.219.
