Description

An unidentified soldier, silhouetted against a shell hole, looking toward the front of a shell damaged church. The town was heavily shelled at frequent intervals and the church was badly damaged by many direct hits. Continued artillery fire later reduced the building even further. Note an unidentified flag flying from the top of the left tower.
