Description

Strazeele, France. 17 June 1918. A German field gun near a captured strong post on Mont-de-Merris, in Northern France. It was here that the 11th Battalion, in the attack some days before, encountered considerable opposition, eventually routing the enemy from a very strong position and capturing the field gun which had been placed there by the enemy presumably for use against tanks. On the right will be noticed the high crops through which the Australians crawled out daily to raid the enemy lines.
