Description
The site of the destroyed village of Pozieres which witnessed in July and August 1916 one of the bloodiest battles of the war. It was in this area that Australian troops were first engaged in a protracted battle on the Western Front, sustaining casualties of more than 12000. This former battlefield has been reestablished as a garden by returned villagers. Note the horse driven plough on the right.
