Description

An unidentified sergeant (far left) standing amidst vegetation near a corner of the Bois l'Abbe near the village of Villers-Bretonneux (background, centre). On 24 April 1918 the 13th and 15th Australian Infantry Brigades, attacking on either side of Villers-Bretonneux, recaptured this village in a brilliant night attack.
