General Sir W R Birdwood chatting with an unidentified French General after having inspected the Australian Guard of Honour on the occasion of the handing over to the city of Amiens the 15 inch German gun captured by the Australians at Proyart in August, 1918. The General also presented the Australian flag in the foreground (left) to the Amiens Cathedral. The Guard of Honour is made up of unidentified members of the Australian Graves Detachment.
