Description

View of the devastated countryside from Broodseinde to Zonnebeke. The foundations of several ruined buildings are visible in the middle foreground. This area was the scene of heavy fighting, on 4 - 5 October 1917, involving troops of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Australian and 7th British Division in the action known as the Battle of Broodseinde (part of the Third Battle of Ypres). This panorama is one of a series taken by the Australian War Records Section. The original is a 10 inch x 40 inch long 'Cirkut' camera nitrate negative.
