Description
The battlefield south of Passchendaele between Dadizeele (Dadizele) Church and Jericho pillbox, taken from Molenaarelsthoek. Note the tangle of barbed wire in the foreground, and the pool of water in what was probably a shell hole. On the horizon on the far right is the Jericho pillbox. British troops gave the name 'pillbox' to the concrete shelters that the Germans favoured in Flanders. They could withstand a direct hit from all but the heaviest shells, and gave rise to vicious fighting. This is the fifth image in a five part panorama. See EZ0171P for the combined image.
