| Description | An Australian produced propaganda film for American audiences, which uses the device of an American soldier stationed in Australia writing a letter to his parents in the US. The film covers his arrival in Australia and includesa tour of parts of Sydney and Taronga Park Zoo, a visit to a girl-friend's home, a sampling of Australian beer with two Australian soldiers, and his departure by train. Film also contains scenes of Melbourne, a race meeting, ski-ing, surfing; Parliament House, Canberra; sheep, beef cattle, harvesting grain, timber cutting etc. Identified personnel: Ross Herschel Ford as the US soldier. Produced by the Australian Department of Information in co-operation with the US Army SWPA. |
