Attack on Düren (Ops 243)
Description
RAF Bomber Command Operational film No 243 of attack on the German town of Düren in support of the 1st and 9th American Armies. Düren was attacked by four hundred and eighty five Lancasters and thirteen Mosquitoes of 1, 5 and 8 Groups Bomber Command. Düren suffered three thousand one hundred and twenty seven fatal casualities the majority of whom were civilians. Film includes an air to air shot of Lancaster (Q) of No 189 Sqn RAF. Film unit aircraft Lancaster of 463 Sqn RAAF was piloted by Flight Lieutenant Skelton. See also F02621.
