New club for Army Advisors DPR/TV/1001
Description
A well-appointed club for members of the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam has been officially opened at their Danang base. The Commander of the Australian Force, Vietnam, Major-General A. L. MacDonald, and the Commander I Corps, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Lam, were guests of honour at the opening. After addressing the advisory team, Major-General MacDonald unveiled a plaque at the entrance to the club, which, at a cost of $12,000 was presented by the Australian Forces Overseas Fund. Measuring 50 feet by 20 feet the club will be used by training team members for periods of rest and relaxation. Following the opening ceremony, and open-air barbecue, an Australian-Government sponsored concert party, which was visiting Danang, provided entertainment. The club is air-conditioned, and its furnishings include lounge chairs, wall decorations and fluorescent lighting. There is also a well-equipped bar.
