Description

The activities of 3 Squadron RAAF in the Western Desert. Shows Squadron personnel messing, the evacuation of casualities by air ambulance, ground crew servicing Kittyhawk aircraft and shots from a flight in the air ambulance. 260725 F/O Wallace (Wally) Edwin Jewell returned to squadron after being shot down and captured and then recaptured by New Zealanders. LAC Munro 3 Squadron black and white artist sketching at the airfield. Shot of Department of Information cameraman Damien Parer with a group of airmen standing around a Tomahawk fighter. Various shots of Squadron pilots and ground crew at work in prepartion for operations. Various shots of Kittyhawks in flight. Shots of 402375 Sgt Pilot Walter (Wally) Hamilton Arthur Mailey shooting up wreckage of a Luftwaffe Me-109 on flat desert country. Airmen inspect the wreckage. 3 Squadron's New Year's Day dinner (1942). Pilots return for New Year's Day operational flight. Prepartions and take offs for operational flight.
