Description

Arrival at Pare Pare, a large trading port one hundred and thirty miles south of Macassar, of troops of 2/14 Australian Infantry Battalion. The troops were transported from Macassar in HMAS Gascoyne and were brought to shore in Japanese barges. Indonesian chieftain of Pare Pare and assistants walk left to right to meet 3129001 Lieutenant Colonel Phillip Edington Rhoden OBE, CO, 2/14 Australian Infantry Battalion, at the CO's HQ.
