Description
During May 1946, the Australian Prime Minister, Mr J B Chifley, visited units under the command of 34 Australian Infantry Brigade in the Kure area. He talked informally with many of the soldiers. Later the Prime Minister met members of Allied Consulates on the lawns of the Commonwealth Legation, Tokyo.
